For those who don't really know how the movie got its name here are some info. The 'Mayan tribe' (from way back in time) has predicted that the earth will come to an end in 2012 which was way long before science was born. Since the movie is about life coming to an end and the movie storyline took place in 2012, that's how it got its name. And suprisingly many scientist believe though if not 100% agree with the Mayan prophecy. The evidences are all around us. One obvious example, the melting of ice at the north and south pole caused by global warming.
Watching the movie, you actually can imagine how the doomsday might look like. The movie gave logical reasons, scenarios and evidences of natural disasters that most probably will happen in the real life. Nothing seems illogical in the movie except the stunts from the actors and actress (avoiding collapsing structures and incoming larva).
Even the very high tech archs that were built seems doable. In the movie the earth didn't actually destroyed totally, instead were severely damaged by earthquake, larva, collapse of crust and flood. Human civilization will have to re-start from scratch... tuning back the calendar to year 0001..
We enjoyed the movie and strongly recommends others to watch it.
