Fernando Torres became the third most expensive player in football history when he joined Chelsea for a reported 50 million pounds (RM250 million) from Liverpool on Jan 31.
The Spain striker signed a five-year contract at Chelsea in a move described by Liverpool as a British record.
The fee is bettered only by Real Madrid's purchases of Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazil playmaker Kaka in 2009.
It is a similar figure to that paid to Inter Milan by Barcelona, for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2009 - a deal that sent Samuel Eto'o to the Italian team.
Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez was widely recognized as being the previous most expensive signing within British football after moving from Manchester United for about 47 million pounds (RM235 million) in 2009.
Torres spent three years at Liverpool, scoring 81 goals, but grew frustrated as the 18-time league champions struggled to keep pace with England's leading clubs.
"I am very happy with my transfer to Chelsea and I am looking forward very much to helping my new teammates this season and for many years to come," Torres said.
"Having played against Chelsea many times since coming to England, and in some very big games I will never forget, I know there are many great players here and I will work hard to win a place in the team. I hope I can score some important goals for the supporters to enjoy this season."
Torres' first game for Chelsea could be against Liverpool in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Feb 6, unless he features at Sunderland on Feb 8. It will be tough for Chelsea to retain their Premier League title this season - they are 10 points behind unbeaten leaders Man United with 15 games remaining.

Salam u olss.....How's ur long holiday? Ours....ok la kan. But I feel time flies super fast! Jap jek dh Saturday kan. Sangat x best! Nak cuti lama2 lagi!
Btw, we went back to Melaka on Thursday. Ingatkan x jam...MasyaAllah...jam giler dr Kajang to Seremban! But we all from ELITE Highway. So start ngadap jam dr simpang ELITE ke North-South Highway tu.
Yg pasti bile kuar tol Seremban tengok2 x de pon jam! Ciss...tertipuuuuuu...So we all continued journey sampai la ke Melaka. Yg pasti nk exit Ayer Keroh tu sangat jam hokeh! Nak menyampai ke umah my parents tu ada la dlm kol 3pm. Start journey kol 12pm cmtuh. Hamek! 3 jam journey.
Sempat lagi posing2 masa queue nk cuci kete! haha.
Dah sampai umah letak brg terus kuar balik g MP (Mahkota Parade). Lapo! Cari makan. Tp nk ke sana pon jam jugakkkkk
Sampai MP..peghak jap...dah lama gile x dtg situ...ada la facelift gak. Yang pasti kitorg dh lapa giler. So, g makan dulu.
First time I makan kt Seoul Garden ni. Buffet and masak sendiri. Bole tahan la price nyer...Food wise...ok laa not bad :D
Makan sampai senak perut! huhu. abes dietku.
Lps makan, jalan2 jap then terus balik umah sbb dh malam kot!
So, today ni tatau balik what time sbb dengar2 nye jam jugak. Maybe lewat sikit la kot kan....
